Roughly 4,000 Without Power In Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Almost 4,000 people in the Twin Cities are without power Wednesday morning.
According to Xcel Energy center roughly 1,924 people in the Rogers area are without power and another 1,948 people are without power near Woodbury.
Xcel Energy said the areas of northwestern Hennepin County and southern Wright County lost power at around 4:49 a.m. Wednesday
The areas affected include Corcoran, Greenfield, Hanover, Hassan, Loretto, Maple Grove, Rogers and Saint Michael.
Rogers Police said at roughly 4:50 a.m. the responded to a call of a power line on fire.
According to police a transformer blew and knocked out the power. The power surge went through stoplights and knocked them out too.
Rogers Police said businesses have restored power, but stoplights have yet to be restores. Officers and state patrol are working to direct traffic. They will remain out until rush hour dies down.
According to Xcel Energy, the Woodbury outage occurred at roughly 6:10 a.m.
Crews are aware of the outages and working to fix them.
Xcel Energy said they estimate power will be restored around 8 a.m. for the Rogers area and 10:05 a.m. for the Woodbury area.
