Roseville Apartment Fire Kills 2 Cats

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Roseville Fire Department says that two residents escaped an apartment fire Monday morning that caused an estimated $80,000 worth of damage to the building and killed two pets.

Fire officials say they responded to a bedroom fire on the 2200 block of Lexington Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. Thick, black smoke was spewing from the apartment's lower level when firefighters arrived, and the apartment's residents had already escaped the flames.

Firefighters evacuated the other residents in the building while putting out the fire, and no one suffered injuries, officials said.

When the flames were knocked down, firefighters discovered that two family cats had perished in the blaze.

The fire is currently under investigation. Officials say the cause does not appear to be suspicious.
