Fatal Rollover Crash On I-694 Slows Traffic In Northeast Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says it's investigating a fatal rollover crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 694 in the northeast metro.

The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. near the intersection of the interstate and Highway 36, just west of Pine Springs. Troopers say a Chevy Malibu traveling east on I-694 veered into the median and rolled.

It's unclear how many people were in the car, although the patrol did indicate that it was investigating the incident as a fatal crash.

Shortly after the crash, traffic on the interstate was reduced to one lane in both directions. MnDOT says crews are working to remove the car from the median.

It's expected that the interstate will be at least partially closed until the mid-morning hours. Drivers should expect delays.

This is a developing story. Check back for more.
