Students Pie Teachers In The Face After Food Shelf Challenge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Some students at a Farmington elementary school worked hard to help their neighbors.

WCCO dropped by Riverview Elementary School Wednesday afternoon to crown them winner of a fundraising effort for Minnesota Food Share.

Riverview raised the most food and money for 360 Communities' "Pie in the Face" challenge. WCCO's cameras were rolling when one young student got to pie third grade teacher Crystie Dufon.

Mya Sharp said she emptied her piggy bank.

"My mom gave me $40 to donate because I brought in $40 and she said she would match it," she said. "I wanted Ms. Dufon to get a pie in the face and I wanted to help the food shelf."

In all, 360 Communities runs the largest network of food shelves in Dakota County. They helped a little more than 10,000 people in the county.
