Richfield Bowling Alley Closing After Nearly 60 Years

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -  A Twin Cities institution is closing its doors after nearly 60 years.

Lariat Lanes in Richfield is closing May 10.

It's been open near Penn and Crosstown since 1958.

In that time, it's only had three owners.

The current ones say they can't compete with other, flashier bowling alleys.

They've seen a lot, including big-time stars who knew they could show up and not be bothered.

"We've had the Stones, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Beastie Boys, Counting Crows, REM, really the list goes on," manager Brandi James said. "They had a great time, and [we] were able to control the security for them."

If you're looking to maybe buy a keepsake from Lariat Lanes, hold that thought.

The owners are going to keep the memorabilia for now.
