Sheriff: 2 Women Badly Hurt In Rice County Rollover Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say two adult women were badly hurt in a single-vehicle rollover crash in southern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office was called to the crash at about 3:18 p.m. on the 17800 block of Cannon City Blvd. in Faribault. Two females in the vehicle were reportedly badly hurt.

When officers arrived, an investigation showed a 2004 Chevy Impala being driven by a 21-year-old woman from Morristown was headed southbound on Cannon City Blvd. The vehicle went off the road on the right side, hit a driveway embankment, launched and rolled before coming to rest on its tires.

A second person in the car was identified as a 21-year-old woman from Farmington. Both women appeared to have been critically hurt in the crash. Authorities say the passenger was airlifted from the scene, and the driver was taken by ambulance to District One before being airlifted to a hospital.

A preliminary investigation at the scene indicates neither were wearing their seatbelts, and the driver did not have a valid license.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol. The names of the two women have not been released.
