RI Governor To Speak At University Of Minnesota

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The governor of Rhode Island is traveling to Minneapolis to deliver remarks at the University of Minnesota.

Democratic Gov. Lincoln Chafee is scheduled to speak at the university's Humphrey School of Public Affairs Wednesday evening.

Chafee's office says his address will "reflect on lessons learned" as a member of the U.S. Senate and as a mayor in Rhode Island. The office says he will also discuss economic justice and contemporary civil rights issues.

Chafee is a former mayor of Warwick who served in the Senate as a Republican. He was elected governor as an independent and switched parties last year. He is not seeking a second term.
