Hundreds Expected At 'Resist Trump Critical Mass' Ride From Mpls. To St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Hundreds of bicyclists are expected to ride from Minneapolis to St. Paul in a protest over President-elect Donald Trump policies and ideas Monday afternoon.

According to event organizers for "Resist Trump Critical Mass", bicyclists will meet up at 5:30 p.m. at Loring Park. The ride will then begin at 6 p.m.

"[Donald Trump's] campaign ran on a series of racist, sexist, xenophobic, and anti-environmental ideas that we must actively work to resist. Allowing these ideas to normalize and reify within American political culture is extremely dangerous to the republic. To this end, we must hold the incoming administration accountable from this moment forward," a statement for the event said.

Organizers say the ride will go through downtown Minneapolis past City Hall and will end at the Governor's mansion in St. Paul. The ride will then head back to Minneapolis and disperse. Bicyclists are encouraged to wear helmets and lights.

Over 700 people have RSVP'd to the event.
