Research Shows Time Does Fly By When You Get Older

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – On WCCO This Morning Tuesday, Kim Johnson and Matt Brickman got into a bit of a debate over time.

Kim said she felt summer was going by too fast. Meanwhile, Brickman said July was like any other month – same amount of days – and logistically was not going by any faster

But, as it turns out, there actually is research that says as you get older, time feels like it's going by faster.

The research said the reason is perspective. As people grow older one year is a smaller and smaller fraction of their total life. Therefore, the time seems to move faster in relation to everything they have experienced.

Experts said it's like watching your life shrink in your rear view mirror.
