Report: Mpls. Has More Than 8,000 Bike Commuters

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The number of commuters riding their bikes to work keeps getting bigger in the City of Lakes.

A new report from the U.S. Census Bureau shows Minneapolis has an estimated 8,300 bike commuters.

That number has more than doubled from 1.9 percent in 2000 to 4.1 percent in 2012.

Other cities with a bike commuter rate higher than 3 percent are Portland, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Boise, Washington D.C., and Madison, Wis.
