Report: Investigation Into Alleged Gender Discrimination At UMD

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A federal agency is launching a civil rights investigation into gender discrimination at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The Duluth News Tribune reports it's in response to a formal complaint filed in December by three ex-coaches and several current and former athletes.

They claim the university fails to provide equal athletic opportunities to men and women, including in equipment, facilities and coaching.

UMD will now have to turn over documents regarding allegations in the complaint.

The university said in a written statement it's confident the investigation will have a positive result.

The three female ex-coaches also filed a discrimination lawsuit against the school in September.
