Rep. Peterson To Announce Political Plans In February

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson says he'll formally announce next month whether he'll seek another term in Congress, but for now he's running.

In a conference call with reporters after House passage of the farm bill Wednesday, the Minnesota Democrat said he's going to take a couple weeks to think about what he needs to do to organize a campaign, then announce a final decision.

He says he has always waited until February to kick off his campaigns, so that's what he's going to do.

Peterson was on the conference committee that crafted the final farm bill compromise.

He recalled needing to take a couple weeks to decompress after the protracted fight to pass the 2008 farm bill, and he says this was the hardest farm bill he's ever worked on.
