Red Lake Man, 53, Found Guilty Of Distributing Child Pornography

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Red Lake man has been found guilty of distributing and possessing thousands of images and videos containing child pornography, the United States Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

On Jan. 9, a federal jury found James Patrick Needham, 53, guilty. He was indicted on May 7, 2013 on one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Needham was arrested after authorities tracked him down to his Red Lake residence using his IP address and username, which were associated with illegal images.

"Protecting children from the physical and psychological trauma associated with the distribution of images and videos portraying their sexual abuse is a law enforcement priority," Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura M. Provinzino said. "This verdict demonstrates that those who possess and distribute child pornography will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I thank the jury members for their service in this very difficult case."

Needham's sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.
