Recipe: Cardamon Cookies

Makes about 2 dozen.

Ingredients

1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
1 egg

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix baking soda, cardamom, cinnamon and flour and reserve.

In another bowl, beat sugar and butter until creamy (about 2 minutes). Add egg and beat until thoroughly combined. Add flour and beat until just combined.

Roll dough into balls and place onto baking sheets. Carefully press dough with flat bottom of a glass. Bake until lightly browned, 14 to 16 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.

For Icing

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
4 cups powdered sugar

Directions

Beat butter and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add milk, cardamom and cinnamon. Add powdered sugar to reach desired consistency. Spread on cooled cookies.
