Raptor Resource Project Bands Falcon Hatchlings At Xcel Plant

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – For more than 25 years, Peregrine falcons have hung out at the Xcel Energy power plant in Oak Park Heights.

The falcons like the height of the Allen S. King Plant and its location near the St. Croix River so they can skydive for prey.

On Wednesday morning, members of the Raptor Resource Project banded the Peregrine falcon hatchlings.

Xcel Energy worked with the Raptor Resource Center to design and install a nest box for the Peregrines.

There are also falcon nesting sites at the Xcel Energy power plants in Burnsville and Becker. They have live web cams set up so you can watch the falcons.
