Ramsey Community Mourns Mother Killed In Murder-Suicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Ramsey community will come together Friday evening to support a family after a horrific crime.

It's been one week since police said a father murdered his wife in front of their kids.

Last Friday, witnesses told police Courtney Monson, 30, was in a violent confrontation with her husband Bryce.

They said Courtney ran into the basement with three of their four kids, before Bryce shot her in front of the kids. He then turned the gun on himself.

Friday's candlelight vigil is in Central Park in Ramsey. The Anoka Ramsey Athletic Association is putting it on.

It starts at 8 p.m. but with a large crowd expected, they ask anyone who's going to get there to arrive at 7 p.m.  Athletes attending from the community are asked to wear their jerseys. Others are asked to wear Anoka maroon.

Money raised from concessions at the event will go to help Courtney's family.

The family's church has set up this GoFundMe page to help cover funeral costs and raising the kids. The Courtney Monson Memorial Fund has also been set up at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. Donations are accepted at any of the 27 branches.
