Ramsey County Honors Officials, Citizens With Lifesaving Awards

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A ceremony honored both citizens and deputies for bravery and saving lives in Ramsey County Monday night.

During the Lifesaving Awards Ceremony the sheriff's office gave awards to those who helped a motorcyclist after a crash. Others were recognized for preventing a woman from committing suicide.

An award also went to a group of lifeguards who helped a man being beat up by three other guys.

"We have some folks who did a great job of reacting when there was really no mandate that they had to. They just did it because it was the right thing to do," Chief Deputy Jack Serier said.

Not only did the group stop the attack, they helped the victim get to the hospital and saved his life.
