Ramsey Co. Sheriff: Vehicle No Longer Believed Involved In Cyclist's Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Investigators now believe there was no vehicle involved in the death of a bicyclist in Vadnais Heights earlier this month, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

The Ramsey County Sherriff's Office says 57-year-old Robert Prudhomme, of Cottage Grove, was found injured at 1:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, on the 4200 block of Centerville Road in Vadnais Heights.

He was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where doctors determined that his injuries were not consistent with the bike accident. After seven days in a coma, Prudhomme was removed from life support.

Although many people stopped to help Prudhomme, investigators have been unable to find anyone who witnessed the actual accident. They believe he was biking southbound on Centerville Road at the time he was injured.

On Tuesday, Sgt. John Eastham of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office confirmed that investigators no longer believe a vehicle was involved.

Anyone who was at the scene and may have more information is asked to call the Investigations Unit of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office at 651-266-7320.
