Mpls. Fire Dept.: Male Victim Falls Inside Rail Car, Prompts Rescue

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis Fire Department says a person needed rescue after falling into a rail car on the southeast city of the city Thursday morning.

The incident, which prompted a technical rescue in a confined space, occurred near the 3500 block of Hiawatha Avenue.

There, the male victim fell through the access into a rail car. The only access to the particular rail car is through the top.

After monitoring air quality in the rail car and finding it to be sufficient, rescuers made entry, assessed the victim and determined he was stable.

Around 9:15 a.m., fire officials said the victim was successfully rescued from the rail car using a rope system with no significant injuries reported.
