PSEO Program Marks 30 Years In Helping H.S. Students Get College Credit

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program is in its 30th year and continues to allow students to take classes in high school that will gain them college credit.

"Starting in the ninth grade, students can advanced placement courses and can literally earn college credit while they are still in high school," Joe Nathan, executive director of the Center for School Change, said.

Nathan told WCCO Radio's Dave Lee that students can take class online or in some cases even attend a class on campus.

"One of the things that's a terrific advantage of this is we know that it helps youngsters graduate from high school and be ready for college and not have to take a remedial course," Nathan said.

Also, according to Nathan, Minnesota has the single best program in the United States.
