Project Opera Director Honored With Alumni Concert

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Opera's training program for young people is holding an alumni concert to celebrate Dale Kruse's final year as music director.

After 11 years, Kruse is leaving as Project Opera's music director after this season.

About 85 Project Opera members and alumni will perform selections from past productions and concerts on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. The concert takes place at Hoversten Chapel on the campus of Augsburg College in Minneapolis.

Project Opera is a training program for students in grades 4-12. The group performs one opera a year for and by children.

Over the past 11 years, 293 students have participated in Project Opera. Some graduates have been accepted into music schools and conservatories including The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music.
