Prettner Solon To Consider Run For Duluth Mayor

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Lieutenant Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon is giving thought to a run for Duluth mayor as she leaves her post in Minnesota politics.

Prettner Solon described the mayoral job Monday "as the only political job I ever aspired to" because of her deep affinity for a city she represented in the Legislature. She served one term as Gov. Mark Dayton's lieutenant, but didn't run with him for re-election.

She says she's in no rush to jump into another campaign. She plans to spend a couple of months in Arizona with family after her term ends in January.

Prettner Solon says she won't make a decision until next spring. Incumbent Mayor Don Ness isn't running for re-election.

Prettner Solon turns 69 early next year.
