Xcel Energy: About 6K Without Power In West Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- More than 6,000 people in the Twin Cities were without power Monday morning.

Xcel Energy says high winds have knocked out power to areas in western Hennepin County and eastern Wright County.

About 2,700 people in Richfield and Bloomington also lost power due to winds.

WCCO Meteorologist Matt Brickman says winds as strong as 52 miles per hour were recorded at MSP Airport and in downtown St. Paul.

Winds were also recorded between 40 and 47 miles per hour early Monday morning in Eden Prairie, Sauk Centre, Hutchinson and St. Cloud.
