Sheriff: $150K Worth Of Marijuana Wax Seized In Brainerd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- About $150,000 worth of marijuana wax was seized in a raid in Brainerd.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office says the Lakes Area Drug Investigation Division executed a warrant on June 16 at a residence on the 900 block of South 8th Street. The search was part of an on-going drug investigation in the county.

Five pounds of marijuana wax was seized, and 21-year-old James Clayton Kalk was arrested.

Investigators do not believe that the wax was manufactured at the residence.

"Marijuana wax is a relatively new product which is made from raw marijuana, but is far more potent," said Sheriff Todd Dahl. "We believe it was shipped to the residence where it was being prepared to be sold."

Brainerd and MSP Airport police departments assisted in the investigation.
