Positive Image Hosts Father/Daughter Valentine's Day Dance

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (WCCO) -- A night of dinner and dancing with the man who loved you the moment he set eyes on you. That's what hundreds of girls got Sunday night at the Positive Image 4th Annual Father Daughter Dance.

It was held at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center. The event focuses on the importance of fathers and their daughters having strong, healthy relationships and hopes to show young girls and teenagers what it means to be treated with love and respect.

Terry Austin is the founder and organizer of Positive Image.

"There are so many negative images they see in our community. It's time to highlight some of the positive things going on in our community as well. There are a lot of responsible fathers in our community who are doing great work inside churches, schools, community work with non-profits," Austin said. "We need to see that because our daughters need to see people in their community doing positive things."

Sunday night's father-daughter dance was sold-out with nearly 700 people in attendance.
