Pope To Receive Final Volume Of St. John's Bible

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Pope Francis will receive a limited, fine-art edition of the final volume of the St. John's Bible commissioned by Benedictine monks in Minnesota.

The St. Peter Apostles Edition of Letters and Revelation will be presented to the pope at the Vatican on Friday.

Only 12 sets of the Apostles Edition have been created.

St. John's University in Collegeville partnered with renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson to create the St. John's Bible. The completed work runs more than 1,150 pages and features 160 illuminations. It's believed to be the first handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine monastery since the invention of the printing press.

Letters and Revelation is the seventh and final volume of the St. John's Bible. The final word — "Amen" — was inscribed in 2011.
