Police: Willmar Man Threatened To Burn Ex, Child Alive

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Willmar man is accused of deliberately setting a house on fire while his ex-wife and 9-year-old child were still inside.

According to Willmar Police, 32-year-old Fidencio Rojas has been taken into custody.

Investigators said officers were summoned to a house on the 3200 block of 1st Avenue Northwest Sunday evening.

The caller said that Rojas had broken into her home and was pouring gasoline everywhere, threatening to kill her and her daughter by burning them alive.

The two escaped the home and called police from a neighboring business.

The Willmar Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Police said the damage to the home was "extensive."

Rojas was taken to Kandiyohi County Jail. Investigators say he could be charged with burglary, arson, terroristic threats and domestic assault.
