Police: UW-Stout Senior Found Dead In Bedroom

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating after a college student was found dead in her residence near the University of Wisconsin-Stout early Thursday.

Police in Menomonie, Wis., responded to the 1000 block of 6th Street at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday after a 23-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her bedroom. When they arrived, they attempted to revive the woman but she was pronounced dead.

Authorities identified her as Jesse Jensen of Owen, Wis. She was a senior at UW-Stout studying industrial design with a minor in business administration. School officials had no further details about her death. Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen released a statement on the matter Thursday.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to Jesse's family and friends, and we offer our condolences to them on the loss of this very promising young woman," Sorensen said. "We will do everything possible to help them find comfort during this time of great sorrow."

Police said the circumstances surrounding Jensen's death are still under investigation.
