2 Elderly Pedestrians Hit By Car In New Hope; Both In Serious Condition

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two pedestrians, both in their 80s, were hit by a car in New Hope Friday night.

It happened on the 4800 block Boone Avenue North just before 7 p.m.

The victims -- a woman and a man -- were taken to North Memorial Medical Center. They both remain in serious condition. Witnesses at the scene provided first aid before first responders arrived.

A Caring Bridge site for the two said the woman has significant injuries, including a broken pelvis and facial fractures, and is unconscious. The man has a fractured vertebrae and fractured ribs, the site said.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a man, is cooperating with the investigation. He was not taken in for additional testing and was released at the scene. Police say no charges are pending against him.
