Police: Suspect Sought In Assault, Death Of 1-Year-Old Boy

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police are looking for a 23-year-old man after a 1-year-old boy died of an apparent assault on Tuesday.

Brooklyn Park Police were called just before 8:30 p.m. to the 2100 block of 74th Ct. North on a report of a 1-year-old boy not breathing. When officers arrived, first responders and paramedics performed CPR on the boy at the scene. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where he later died.

Witnesses at the scene told police the boy was the victim of an assault that caused him to stop breathing. The suspect, who is known to family members, fled the scene before emergency personnel arrived.

Police have identified the suspect as Reggie Delany Harper. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with blue or purple writing and red/black checkered pants. Anyone who knows him or has information about the incident is asked to call 911.

The incident is under investigation. The victim has not been identified.
