Edina Police Shoot, Critically Injure Armed Suspect

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Edina police say an armed suspect was shot by police after officers responded to a call Saturday morning.

At 10:11 a.m., Edina police officers responded to a residence on the 7500 block of Cahill Road after receiving a report of an individual displaying threatening behavior.

When police arrived, officers encountered a man inside the residence who displayed a weapon. Shots were fired shortly after and the suspect was injured.

The suspect was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition as of noon Saturday.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

Edina officials say two officers responded and both fired shots. It is still being investigated if the suspect fired his weapon.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating at the request of the Edina Police Department.
