Police: Suspect Arrested After Stop For Stolen Vehicle Starts Chase

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities in west central Minnesota say a juvenile male was arrested Saturday after a felony stop of a stolen vehicle turned into a police chase earlier in the morning.

The Starbuck Police Department responded at about 3:30 a.m. to a report of a stolen vehicle southbound on Highway 29. The vehicle had been spotted heading southbound on Highway 29 before heading west on County Road 18. Officers with the Pope County Sheriff's Office and the Starbuck Police Department made contact with the vehicle and conducted a felony stop.

During the stop, the driver eluded authorities and headed northbound on County Road 3, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. The driver went through the city of Cyrus and west onto Highway 28 until getting to Morris, then went northbound on County Road 59. Deputies with Stevens County and Grant County joined the pursuit before the suspect rammed the car of a Stevens County deputy.

The Starbuck Police Department said the suspect, a juvenile male, was found later Saturday in Douglas County and arrested.

The incident remains under investigation.
