Police: Suspect Assaults Child, Stabs Man In Jordan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 29-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday morning in connection with the stabbing of another man and the alleged assault of a 2-year-old child, police said.

The Jordan Police Department was called to a stabbing at about 11 p.m. Monday on the 100 block of West Third Street. When authorities arrived, they learned an altercation had taken place between two adult men. Witnesses at the scene said the suspect, identified as Jared Valinski, punched a 2-year-old child in the face before attacking another man.

Valinski allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the man in his hand before having the knife taken away by other people present at the scene, police said. Valinski fled the scene before police arrived.

Acting on a citizen tip, police took Valinski into custody early Wednesday morning after a brief struggle. They were executing a search warrant on the 4700 block of Xenia Avenue in Crystal. Valinski was taken to the Scott County Jail where he awaits his first court appearance and possible criminal charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
