Police Seek Suspects In Robbery, Assault Near U Of M

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are looking for two suspects after a man was injured in a robbery near the University of Minnesota.

Minneapolis police were called at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Cedar Avenue South near the U of M West Bank on a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, the victim was on the sidewalk with his phone in his hand when two suspects approached.

Police say one suspect took the phone from the victim's hand, and the suspects fled. The victim chased after them, and the suspects turned around and assaulted the victim, punching him in the head and face. The suspects then fled to the east.

The victim, who is not a U of M student, was injured and required medical attention.
