Police Seek Suspect In Alexandria Gas Station Robbery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in northwestern Minnesota are looking for a suspect after an armed robbery that resulted in a gas station employee being hospitalized.

Alexandria Police were called to the Super America gas station on the 1400 block of Broadway at about 11:57 p.m. Tuesday on a report of an armed robbery. When officers arrived, they learned the suspect entered the store with a hand gun displayed and demanded cash from an employee at gun point.

The suspect then brought the female clerk to a back store room, where he tied her up by her hands and ankles. The suspect also allegedly threw the clerk to the floor, causing her to bleed from her nose and face.  Police said as the suspect left the gas station, he pointed his gun at a customer sitting in their vehicle and demanded their wallet.

Police said they tracked the suspect and he was picked up a short time later by a vehicle and left the area. The gas station clerk was taken to Douglas County Hospital for injuries and released.

Authorities said they believe this robbery is related to others that have happened in the area. The suspect is described as a white male about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium to slender build. Police said a light-colored crossover vehicle may have witnessed Tuesday's robbery, and they are looking for the driver.

Anyone with information about the robbery or other incidents is asked to call Alexandria Police at (320) 763-6631.
