Police Release Man Arrested In Maplewood Shooting

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding the people who fatally shot a man outside a Maplewood strip mall.

Police said they released a 19-year-old man from custody Monday pending further investigation after arresting him Saturday. They say 25-year-old Terrence Woods of St. Paul was killed in the Saturday shooting in front of Merwin Liquors after being shot in the back. Twenty-four-year-old Jamil Ellis of St. Paul was wounded.

Police say three young men approached Woods, Ellis and a third companion outside the liquor store Sunday and asked them to buy alcohol for them. They say the older men refused and the younger men later shot at them from a white sedan. The shooters' car was caught on surveillance video.
