Police: Man Critically Injured In Uptown Hit-&-Run

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A hit-and-run that left a man in critical condition early Friday morning was all caught on camera.

Minneapolis Police say they are looking for a maroon, four-door Town Car or Mercury Marquis. The woman driver was caught on video swerving into the northbound lane of Lyndale Avenue and hitting 39-year-old Tarrince Emmanuel Winbush.

It happened right around bar close near the Bulldog on Lyndale Avenue and 26th Street in Uptown. Police say the act was intentional, and that the driver sped off.

Joel Eckerson said he was leaving the CC Club and saw a man and woman arguing as they walked across Lyndale Avenue.

He said the woman got into a car and then tried to use it to hit the man she was fighting with.

"Went around on Lyndale and tried to pin one of the other guys against some cars, actually hit the cars, and then sped off," Eckerson said. "It seemed like everything cooled down."

According to police, the woman was not finished.

Surveillance video shows the car after it drove around the block. It's seen getting behind another vehicle and swerving into the northbound lane of Lyndale Avenue as Winbush was crossing the street.

"I was in front of the Bulldog at that time, and it just hit him," Eckerson  said. "It left one of his shoes still on the ground where he was hit, and he just flew up in the air, flipped around a few times and stopped moving when he hit the ground."

Screeching tires were heard as the car drove off down 26th Street, hitting a moped and a parked car along the way.

"It was hard to imagine that it was real," Eckerson said. "I mean, he looked like a rag doll just thrown up in the air, flipping around."

Winbush was critically injured. He's being treated at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Police are looking for the driver and the car connected to the crime. If you have any idea who it belongs to, call Minneapolis police at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
