Police: New Hope Liquor Store Employee Shot During Robbery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- New Hope police say a suspect shot a liquor store employee in the leg during a robbery Thursday evening.

On Thursday at 9:29 p.m., police responded to a reported robbery at Viking Liquors at 7141 42nd Avenue North in New Hope.

Upon arrival, police learned a lone male suspect had previously entered the store, pointed a handgun at the two employees and demanded money. He then fired at least one gunshot, which hit an employee in the leg. The suspect then fled.

Police say evidence was left at the scene and it is being processed. The store's loss has not been determined.

The suspect is described as a man with a medium build wearing a thick dark winter jacket and hood.
