2 Firefighters Injured Battling Country Club Fire In Wayzata

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two firefighters suffered minor injuries battling a fire at the Woodhill Country Club in Wayzata Tuesday morning.

According to the Wayzata Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the country club Tuesday at 7:52 a.m. on the report of smoke inside a building.

When fire crews arrived, they observed smoke coming out of the backside of the building. Firefighters then made entry to the basement and found fire in the ceiling and inside the walls working its way to the second level.

Ceilings, walls and floors were removed to gain access to extinguish the fire.

"Two firefighters injured on scene were treated and released at a hospital for minor injuries," the fire department said.

All fire units were cleared from the scene by 2 p.m. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated by the Hennepin County Fire Investigation Team.
