Police: Minnesota Kayaker Revived After Going Underwater In Wausau

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — Police say a man whose kayak tipped over at Whitewater Park in Wausau has been rescued by fellow kayakers and first responders.

Wausau police Lt. Nathan Pekarske tells WSAU-TV that the 55-year-old Minnesota man appeared to have a medical issue, causing him to roll over in his kayak around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Wausau Daily Herald Media reports the man was pulled from the water by kayakers, who saw that he was turning blue.

A doctor and nurse who were at the scene performed CPR on the man, and he was revived by first responders using a defibrillator.

The man was taken to a hospital. His condition was not known.
