Police: Man Shoots At Ex-Girlfriend's Car Near Playground, Infant Inside

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot at his ex-girlfriend's car in St. Paul Tuesday night, narrowly missing the woman's infant daughter.

St. Paul Police say the incident happened at about 7 p.m. near Wilder Playground in the area of Case Avenue and Jessie Street.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, told police she was driving with her 1-year-old daughter and her current boyfriend when she noticed her ex-boyfriend sitting in a parked car.

The ex then allegedly fired at the woman's vehicle, shattering the back window and a rear passenger window. The infant was in the back seat, but was not harmed.

The woman's current boyfriend fired back with a gun that she says was purchased due to threats from the ex-boyfriend. Both men were not at the scene when officers arrived.

Police consider the shots fired by the current boyfriend as self-defense. They are searching for the gunman.
