Police: Man, Child Found Dead Inside Faribault Residence

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating after an adult male and a child were found dead inside a residence in southern Minnesota Sunday afternoon.

Faribault police were called at about 1:44 p.m. along with the Rice County Sheriff's Office to a residence on the 2500 block of Hulett Avenue. A neighbor had called 911 to report they could see a man lying in the entryway through a window in the home.

When officers arrived, they forced entry into the home and found a man dead lying on the floor of the residence. They also found a child dead in another part of the home. Officers inside the residence also discovered a firearm next to the adult male. Officers had to force entry as the doors of the home were locked. It's believed that the man and child were the lone residents of the home.

Authorities have not identified either the man or the child. Police and investigators are interviewing neighbors and are seeking anyone who might have additional information about the deaths. An initial investigation shows that there does not appear to by any danger to the public.

The Faribault Police Department is investigating the incident with assistance from the Rice County Sheriff's Office.
