Police: Man Attempts To Rob, Assaults 2 U Of M Students

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two University of Minnesota students were allegedly assault near campus early Friday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Friday near the intersection of 6th Street SE and 12th Avenue SE.

Minneapolis police said the two students were walking southbound on 12th Avenue when a dark colored minivan stopped at the intersection.

A man got out of the car, approached the two and demanded their valuables.

The two victims did not resist, but the suspect then threatened them with what could have been a handgun or a Taser with a red laser light.

The man then ran back to the car and drove off.

Police said there were at least two other suspects in the car.

The victims did not lose any valuables, but were slightly injured during the attack.

Police said the suspect was described as a black male, between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. He is described as being five feet eight inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing dark pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt and a dark baseball cap.

Neither victim was able to describe the minivan.
