Police: Man, 33, Charged For Stealing Packages From Doorsteps

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 33-year-old Cottage Grove man who was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing packages from people's front steps has been charged.

According to the Cottage Grove Department, officers received a report from a concerned citizen of a man taking a package off a front step in the 8600 block of Hyde Avenue.

The citizen gave a description of the man and vehicle, along with a license plate number and officers were able to apprehend the suspect as he was leaving the area.

According to the police department, officers were able to track the houses the suspect had been to as he opened the packages and left behind items he didn't find valuable.

All the thefts occurred in both Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park.

The suspect was identified as Ronald Edward Reische. He is currently in Washington County Jail awaiting formal charges.
