Woman Suspected With Baby In Trunk Located

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say they have identified a woman, who was allegedly spotted with a baby in the trunk of her vehicle, after making a plea to the public for help.

With the assistance of the Leech Lake Tribal Police, the woman was located and her 1-year-old child was found safe on Monday.

The investigation continues as to the details of the incident.

According to authorities, officers responded around 9:50 p.m. Sunday to the Holiday Gas Station on Paul Bunyan Drive South on a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, they met with the caller who said they overheard a woman in the parking lot make a comment like, "My baby, I think something is wrong with my baby."

The caller said they drove by the vehicle and saw what appeared to be an object shaped like a baby, which wasn't moving, in the trunk. The vehicle left before officers could arrive.

The Bemidji Police Department is working to piece together the timeline of the case. No other information was released.
