Police Locate Driver Suspected In Fatal Hit-And-Run

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (AP) — Stearns County authorities say they have located the driver suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a 5-year-old boy in St. Joseph.

Police say Cody Nuckolls was struck by a vehicle about 2:30 p.m. Monday on a road outside his family's mobile home. They say the accident happened after his mother crossed the street to wait for another child to get off a school bus, but the bus blocked her view of the boy when he was hit by the vehicle.

Police say the boy's mother saw him collapse on the pavement, but she wasn't immediately aware that a vehicle hit him. Nuckolls was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators were able to identify the vehicle and driver after reviewing video from the school bus.
