Police Investigating Woman's Death In Northfield

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead outside a residence in Northfield Sunday afternoon.

The Northfield Police Department was called to the 400 block of E. Third St. in Northfield at about 3:10 p.m. on a report of an unresponsive female. Officers at the scene were assisted by emergency personnel with Northfield Hospital and Northfield Fire Services.

Authorities at the scene discovered a woman's body in the snow near a residence. Police say it appears the woman's body may have been in that location for at least a day, and there were no signs of a struggle or suspicious activity in connection with her death.

The Northfield Police Department said the woman's death is under investigation. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the woman's cause of death.

Authorities said they have made a preliminary identification , but the woman's name is not being released pending a notification of family members.
