Police Investigating Infant's Death In South St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a 5-month-old baby Wednesday afternoon in South St. Paul.

Police were called at about 1 p.m. to a residence on the 200 block of South Street West on a report of an infant not breathing. When officers arrived, they located a 5-month-old girl who was unresponsive.

Despite resuscitative efforts to save the baby, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South St. Paul Police Department is investigating the infant's death with assistance from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. The name of the baby has not been released.
