Police Identify Wisconsin Man Killed When Tree Fell On Truck

BROWNSVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Wisconsin man who was killed when a tree fell onto the pickup he was driving in southeastern Minnesota.

Minnesota State Police identified the man as 50-year-old Wayne Burkhardt of West Salem, Wisconsin. Police say he was driving around a curve on Highway 26 south of Brownsville on Saturday morning when a tree fell from a bluff and onto the windshield and roof of the pickup.

According to police, the man's 51-year-old wife, Carla Burkhardt, and 16-year-old daughter, Carlie, were riding in the pickup and sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. They were taken to a hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
