Police: Drunken Driver Who Crashed Into Median Had 2 Minors In Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly driving while intoxicated with minors in his vehicle.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle off the road along Interstate 94 near Woodville on Monday afternoon. Troopers there found a Honda vehicle in the median. One of the passengers in the vehicle was trying to push the car out.

Authorities said that the driver, Cheng Xiong, said that he lost control of the vehicle because of slippery road conditions, but the State Patrol noted the roadway was dry in the area. There were a number of skid marks on the road which indicated the vehicle had been swerving back and forth.

Xiong said he was heading to Minneapolis, though the vehicle was actually travelling east, away from Minneapolis, police said.

Xiong failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

Two of the passengers in his vehicle were 15 years old, investigators said.
